All other things being equal, is 10,000.00 USD a fair price for a 2.5 yr old SchH 1 male?
Again, assuming all other factors and variables are average is this a good price, or too much?
The breeder is an outstanding person with impeccable character, honesty and reputation.
This is him when he was a pup:

Sounds like too much for me. If this is what you want only you can say how much is too much.

I would never pay that much money for a dog, especially only a SchH1, but like Sue-Ann said, just depends on what you think is too much.

What would be a fair price for this dog?
What would you guys pay for him?
Sue-Ann:
That is a great reply. What I want is a good GSD with the accomplishment of a SchH 1 title that I can keep as a personal companion and protector.
One that I can take to the field and do protection work with once or twice a week with a good certified decoy, while at the same time, be able to keep in my home as a good friend to my wife and I.
We are both professional working people who want a fairly high end GSD (for us at least) that will be a great friend, companion, guardian and exercise playmate for us.

And I might add, I would have this GSD with me everyday at my office.

i don't think that is a viable question !! BNottom line : what sd you want and want is the value to you ?? -- personally i don't think GSDs or any other should be about money -- !! to me ..that is exactly what has ruined a great many breeds of canines !! but aside from my opinions ... first .. is this the phenotype and genotype that you seek ?? does the dog have the health and conformation that you seek ?? e.g aside from the overangulation [ the roach backs that seem to be pulling in all the high places in the show , to me you can keep those GSDs , and i could care less the Va 1 2 3 4 5 rank .. means nothing to me ecapt hypocrisy .. the standard is the standard and that's that !!]! does the dog have the innate behavioral traits that you seek ?? what are the motivations from the dog ?? that is to say i would pay more a price if the dog had standard structure , or V rated that would come and tear my coat pocket open just to get his toy !! -- and you do not always find that in a Sch 3 dog -- can the dog defend me ?? you do not find that in many Sch 3 dogs..some have very low defense traits !! -- is the dog clear headed and the temperamnet that you want ?? can you take that dog any where, any place ,any time ?? -- so you see , what is the value to you -- aside fr0m money also cinsider a good dog .. avery very good dog, someone has helped the good genetics along .. someone has vared , nutured , devekped the dog and that eprsons time is also worht something too -- just think about the vet bills and the feed to begin with -- SO -- to me,,, to get what i want -- i coul pay 5 , 10 , or 15 thousand $$ -- it's about you and the dog ..it about the money !!

If it was the best block in the street and I wanted to build on it, then its worth as much as I want to pay for it.we are not mugs 10,000 I think is to much but if I wanted it so bad then pay it.

Dargo--
Weren't you questioning the possibility of bringing into your home another dog, (having an 8-month old male already), a short time back? Instead of being too concerned about the price, I'd worry more about the compatibility of the two dogs.
Introduce the two dogs on totally neutral ground--not the breeder's grounds, or your's. See how they interact. Male dogs can get along--mine do--and they aren't altered. But, I always introduced a puppy.
If you think $10,000 is too much now, wait until you have a big problem if the dogs don't get along. That should be your real priority.
Dargo--take this dog for a walk by yourself. Make sure you encounter other dogs, (especially big males), children on bicycles whizzing by, kids on skateboards, and take a walk through town, encountering big, small, young and old. If you are still at ease on returning from this walk---then, talk price.
This is just a suggestion---but, one that might help you decide if the dog has real value to you.

If I understand, you already have a GSD. Then take your family member and pay to have him trained. For about $4500.00 USD, he can obtain the training you desire and you will not have two dogs to contend with, since you are both "professionals" and probably quite busy in your lives. This would make more sense than buying a titled dog that may or may not work out for you. They are not robots and if you buy one and he does not work out for you, you are back to square one. You already have a dog in your life. Would you send your own child to college or would you just adopt a child with a college degree? This statement is kinda stupid on my part, but does help put my thoughts "out there". Almost any dog can obtain a Schutzund I and certainly, almost any dog can be trained to be obedient and protect your family. Even a beagle (okay, maybe not a beagle :).

for 10,000.00 USD I expect the dog to have SchH3, V , kkl1 with excellent working scorebook (in the 90s) and proven producer including excellent pedigree.
