If you really wanted a dog that exemplified the "golden middle' as it were, I think you should start by breeding a showline breeder and mating him/her with a working line breeder. How would you evaluate the drives necessary and the kind of progeny that would result. You would have to establish a way to rate hips, hair and eye colors, etc. Would you get any that would concentrate on breeding for the middle or that would concentrate on both lines? It's time to think outside the box people. Doggman

My wife is show and I am working. We have bred high drive, clear headed, prey driven kids. They seem to prefer the working lines but at 3 years old and almost 1.5 years, they still talk a little jibberish! LOL!

I was trying to think of a response to make to breeding one breeder to another. I'm glad somebody else caught that! LOL!

Hee Hee Hee, talk about some highly confused kids and total family rivalry. Who's with mom? Who's with dad? LOL

I really believe that we could use the better structured dogs of working lines to correct some soft temperament in the Show line, even if we dont get high level in terms of structure in the first generation I am sure it will come with time and there will be the good temperament and work ability that made the German Shepherd so admired everywhere in the world.
