I looked over some old posts on dogs puking up Yellowish bile and generally it seems like it is not a big deal.  My question is:  At what point should I be concerned?

Rose has been puking up bile off and on for about a week now.  Normally when she does this, it only lasts a day or 2.  She has never this long though, even when she was pregnant.  I talked to the near by vet on Friday and she said to give her Reglan.  I really do not want to do this, as I have heard not so good things about this drug.

Some additional info that may or may not be relevant.

1. She is due to come into heat any week now (she is actually behind a week or two).
2. No diet change
3. She is eating grass, but this is after she pukes
4. Other than the normal bitchiness associated with this time, everything appears to be normal; energy, appetite,
5. Nothing else is in the puke, just yellow, foamy, bile
6. There seems to be no consistency around this occurring; time of day, exercise, eating, drinking, etc.

Thanks for any info.

Try some natural, live yogurt ?  Might rebalance things and sooth her.

she is close to comining into to heat well there is  the problem, its just her hormones and this is very normal at this time , my girl does this all the time when she get close to coming in.
from what i know about it , it also has to do when they have a empty stomach.
i would not worry about it , if it only happens from time to time.

Ok.  I will try the yogurt.   I kind of figure it is the hormones, but with it going on for a week now on a daily bases.....

I bet the yogurt doesn't help. The lactic acid doesn't do any charms for a sore stomach, but it will help the intestinal walls in the duodenum.
I would add some fresh small cut and clean (no pesticides) dandilions and mix it into her food as well as a little (like a table spoon full) oatmeal. That relaxes the stomach as well as the gall bladder.

On occasion my guys will do that if they did not eat enough;  what are you feeding her as it is possible you might be able to feed her a little more??  JUst asking, or something with a few more calories but same amount?  Just a suggestion and I really don't like them doing that regularly.  On occasion yes, but not all the time.  JMO  Nan

I had a bitch that would puke bile, foam, wouldn't eat and acted like she wanted to die when she was coming into heat, the first time this happened I just knew she was bloating, took her to an emergency vet, ran 1200$ of tests and found nothing...... same thing happeded with her next heat, but that time we waited and watched, same with third heat, but not as bad...

Is she drinking enough?  I have noticed that when my dogs puke alot that often times it is because they have not been getting enough to drink. Not that fresh water isn't always available, just that I have to remind them to drink frequently.  Also, my females ALWAYS puke when they are coming into season.  One of my females came into season for the first time two weeks ago and she puked every two hours for a whole day, she could not keep anything down for that one day, but was perfectly fine the next day.

When it happens, try feeding her the normal diet and giving her a Pepcid AC.

I agree with Tinges about the yogurt. :)

Just curious as to what you are feeding?  I've only had two GSD's puke up bile and that was way back when I was feeding Nutro (aka crap).
