I love Beau...Don't get me wrong, and from every other action, he seems otherworldly bright, but when he pees??? Not so much.

Has anyone run into this problem? Beau is still urinating by stretching his back legs out and sort of leaning forward, and he keeps spraying or sometimes even full on PEEING on himself, EVERY TIME he potties! Usually it's the back of his front legs, but he's even peed on his chin (from leaning his head down while he urinates) or even his stomach!

Like I said, I love him, I always will but damn it, I'm getting tired of taking the bath wipes to him 99% of the time he urinates. It's not about how expensive those little bastard wipes are, it's the fact that this could be prevented if he A) Learned to lift his leg, B) Stayed still while peeing so he wouldn't move the stream, C) Angle himself better.

Has anyone else run into this, if so, what did you do about it? He's about 9 months old now, not sure if that has bearing? He's been doing this shit since I picked him up at 11.5wks old!!!

LoL got a leg pee'er here. Cant do a damn thing about it. I guess its how his anatomy is build; it just aims that way. Only when he really had to go and just let it run (and whines with it) it goes fairly straight down. Even when he lifts his leg, it goes about 50% onto his front and he is 3 years old now.

I am kinda joking about it, especially when he is in his growly assholy mood...... "he is so angry because he always pissed on his own leg"  Wink Smile

It's the Billy goat thing. I have young male who did that until quite recently, he'll be two next month. Now he squats over his target, lifting his leg, and directs the stream onto the mark. His grandsire will still pee on his front legs sometimes, then licks it off....he's almost eight years old. But when he was a pup, he always made sure he soaked his front legs, and even licked the stream, and spraying his chin and sometimes his face. A lot of male animals do this, guess they're just proud! Probably testosterone poisoning, LOL.

Elkor, about the "and whines with it" part; have you had his prostate checked?

Bosco is ten months old and has always peed on his front legs too. He also takes great joy in peeing on an unsuspecting Senta's face - you can't even imagine the fights that this has caused.

I have one too. He would do the stretch with a slight turn in towards one side and always got his front legs. He also got his chin a few times.
He's five years old now and does lift his leg which we were all hoping would change things but it doesn't.
I use lots of baby wipes and rinse his front legs with the hose or in a bucket every week or two.

oh good....i am not the only one who has that issue too......when he lifts it he pees all over his legs, other times when he squats like a girl he stays clean but he is doing that less and less....its the worse when he does what everyone else said..stretches a bit and just pees while standing...peeing all over front legs..up till now i was hoping he would grow out of it..but looks like that not gonna happen..lol

I think the answer is to teach them all to "Stand-Up and Pee Into the Toilet"...

A good trainer can do that...Don't you tink?

...tee hee hee...!

Oh Q Man, I freakin' wish!!! Wouldn't do hubby and I much good though, being on the road, most days WE are lucky to get to "use" a toilet Red Smile

Besides, being that it's a guy thing, the little boogers would probably leave the seat up, like all you men! Wink Smile

I've had young dogs do this 'by accident' while still puppy-peeing,
but then they've grown out of it fairly soon because they started
standing on three legs.  However, we also had an Alpha dog for
nearly 14 years who used to annoint himself deliberately like
others have described.  And he was a longcoat !!!
They were 'outside' dogs so we did not
regularly wipe them down, but we did pay careful attention to
the back of their front legs whenever they were bathed.
