I'm looking at a pup from this breeder.  I see that there are a lot of von Hayden dog owners on here and I'd love to here from some as to their experiences with this breeder and her dogs.

the first thing i would say is this breeder produces very high drive dogs for work and if you dont have the time to train  a dog  and are not  firm person ,  she may not have what you want , she has had alot of dogs returned as  family homes cant handle her dogs, just want to say this , as she has true working dogs.

The dogs are gorgeous and high strung not to over the top as long as you have time to exercise them as any dog should be, you would be fine. Ours is 5 months and I can't say enough good things about him. I don't worry about anyone coming into our house  uninvited, he has no fear and territorial ready to protect but when given the command "friend" he turns into a different dog very intelligent.

Our von Hayden pup is 5 months old he is high drive but nothing over the top. If you exercise them and train and be consistant as Trixx states you would be ok. Very intelligent, learns quickly and wants to work. I find all her dogs to be gorgeous. Very confident and no fear, I have no worry of anyone entering our home uninvited as he's territorial and very protective. With one command he will turn into an entirely different dog and is ready to make friends.

I have searched the boards, but was hoping to hear some fresh/current opinions.  Its such a big deal picking out a breeding and puppy.  I'm a bit worried about a few of the things I've read on here given her current situation.  Plus not being able to meet her dogs given the current situation, well its almost enough to put one off, if it wasn't for all the positive that seems to outweigh the nay sayers.

Who are  your boys parents?  Have you had an opportunity to meet the parents or other von hayden dogs?

Trixx, I have the time, desire and support system for a high drive female puppy.  I'm just trying to find a real one.  I'm not looking for soft, nervy, somewhat drivy, can do the work, etc.  I'm looking for the Ferrari that needs downshifting in the home, not the Ford that needs a power chip to work on the field!

Backtracking some dogs I've seen work and liked I came up with von Hayden and Staatsmacht Kennels.  Just trying to decide between the two....I'm not in a hurry and will wait for the right puppy.  But I hope to find her in the next 6-8 months.

While I've been able to find a ton of information out about Staatsmacht Kennel and their dogs, I've been struggling with von Hayden.  Staatsmacht is breeding and working what I'm after, but I've heard that so is Kim.  I just can't seem to get past rummors and verify from actual owners that her dogs and her live up to the kennels reputation.  Nor can I seem to find out much about Hayden's dogs specific traits.  It seems like most people are happy to share about their dogs so I was hoping to get some of this information on this thread from current or past von Hayden owners.

We have 3 Von Hayden dogs currently...  Demi is from Henk/Hanka and is 3 years old, she's a lot of fun. High ball drive, high food drive, not an aggressive dog, loves pups, kids the elderly. Does very well on the Senior Psych ward greeting patients in crisis.  The two pups we have are from Kona (X'presso) and Quella.  As their grandparents here are Hawk Von Eichenluft and Zidane they are more drivey than Demi.  Both are still quite stable and fun pups.
The only issue right now you might anticipate is a delay in papers as Kim lost her home to a bad storm ripping the roof off and everything inside getting soaked.  I know she's working on replacing paperwork, but is living out of a motel room and waiting on AKC, which isn't always super quick.  I've known Kim since she was a teenager, and her mother before that when they lived in NYS.   Have never had any issue with either that a phone call couldn't resolve quickly to both our satisfaction.
Wish you the best with your new pup, wherever you might get it.  I agree, it is good to do research first than regret later, but I am quite comfortable with Kim standing behind her dogs and her word.  (Skyler, Svenya and Demi are all on the database)
