A friend of mine has a 3 year show shepherd who's tip of the ear was damamged playing with another dog. Will this ruin her dog for showing in the german style ring, or will the judges see it as a cosmetic fault, not a genteic fault and let it slide? Thanks for all the replies

The SV requires to have these kind of accidents documented by a veterinarian. For further information, you would either contact them or if the dog is located in the U.S., the United Schutzhund Clubs for the necessary procedure. Many years ago, I had an Arlett female who lost a tooth (along with a piece of the jaw bone) in a nasty accident rolling down a steep hill in Germany. The SV required the x-ray and documented the missing tooth as an accident on the pink papers! What kind of ear damage are you talking about? A missing tip or even more due to a dog fight is quite common and will not ruin a dog's show career. You see them in the Sieger Show as well.

Based on the information it would appear the tip has been damaged and or partially removed! Thanks for the reply
