How many siegers, if any, have competed again after they were sieger, and dud not make sieger again?

by Tarakiwa on 03 September 2012 - 08:09

Not sure, but I take it they did not pay enough for the title, 2nd time around.....Wink Smile

I know of 1. 1899 was a long time ago and I wasn't around then. My guess would be 1.

Oh I'm sure it will be more than one dog ...  when you think how many double-year Siegers
there have been, odds are there will have been a few that came back but were graded lower
in a subsequent appearence - perhaps more than once.  I could be wrong,  but think I can remember seeing
reports by visitors [e.g. Percy Elliot, Brian Wootton, Louis Donald ? ] where several dogs have been mentioned in the context of how they did in comparison with a previous appearance, and I'm pretty sure this wasn't only dogs who had not already held the Number One slot.  Debby, I think I have seen the records
of such dogs - or at least those which still VAd - somewhere, but I'm b******d if I can
remember where right now.  Have you tried the SV website ?

Sorry for the typo. Was doing it from my phone. Tried to update from my phone but there was no "submit" to click on. Tried this am from my pc and now it says its too old. Anyhow, thanks Randy and Hundmutter! I have and am still looking at the history. I do not find a SIEGER that was down graded. Yes there are plenty of other VA placements that came back and lost placements, just not finding SIEGERS. It appears to me that there is some sort of unsaid/unwritten "respect" that if the Sieger comes back the judge will not down grade him. That's all I'm looking into. Seems that in recent years it is the norm for Suegers to repeat. Just a case of inquiring minds wanting to know. :)

Maybe you are right - you've got me curious too now;  I'll see if I can find anything in my
back issues of mags etc. Linda.

Interesting. Maybe they are allowed 2 'go-rounds' and then it is polite form not to enter again?  Does anyone know if a Sieger has been made Sieger more than twice - I seem to remember seeing 'thrice Seiger', but it could have been twice Sieger! (then my theory goes bang LOL).  Gotta give someone else a chance eventually.  Or Tarakiwa is right.........and it just gets too expensive LOL

The only one that I know of off the top of my head is Eiko vom Kirschental. He made Sieger in 1988 and was usurped by Iso vom Bergmannshof in 1989.
