What does it take for a VA or a High V dog.
Can you determine what a puppy will make depending on his sire dam and pedigree and his line breeding.
If he not too much linebred can he make a good producer.
For example my dog is only line bred on Jeck i think 5-5 something like that.
He has Dux and Yello lines.
Can he make a good show dog.
I am taking him to a confomation show this sunday.
I know that nothing can be determined if he is rated VP or P

GSDKid, a lot of questions.
First question: The VA is "Excellent Select" and the V is "Excellent". What does its take to make the VA list? Essentially, be the best in conformation, not necessarily to the F.C.I. standard, but by the judge's opinion. Conformation, movement, temperament are all parts of this requirement. A bit of good personality helps as well. Now this would be for a first VA title. A second VA title would certainly require the presence of excellent progeny to see how the dog produces. In my opinion excellent progeny should ALWAYS be a requirement even for the first VA, or low V number, but I digress.
Second question: You can't, but better parents tend to make better puppies.
Third question: Linebreeding can have little or much influence depending on who and when, and how well or how poorly they represent themselves.
Fourth question: His placement as a show-quality dog will be determined by conformation, movement, and temperament. He either has all three (3) or he doesn't.
There is noting wrong with a VP, especially one with a low number. If you achieve this while facing many contenders, be very proud of it.

If we could pick a puppy as a VA candiate from pedigrees we would all have a VA dog.
On producing there have been many dogs that have been high placed V's and VA's that do not produce consistently and than a sibling who is a solid V who will out produce them.
Unfortunetly it is all a crap shot you put nice pedigrees together and find a male that can help your bitches faults and you roll the dice.
