Has anybody tried the citronella bark collars? If you have did they work or not? We have one that needs a collar, if the citronella collars have had some success we'll try one.
Thanks all.

I haven't used them personally, but my Training Director has on dogs in his kennel. They work good for all but one dog that has learned to avoid the spray by spinning when he barks, or he'll just bark untill it's empty and put up with the spray.
If one of my dogs were to become a nuisance barker, this is the way I definately would go. These collars can be left on for long periods of time with out risk of injury, unlike the e-collars.

i never tried them... i tried gentle bark collars u get from Petco then i got those good ones.. Trionics and i have some dogs that i just put it on and dont even have it high enough or tight enough and they adhere and then of course there is Bronx, Debi and Drago who could take a 5 and then wear a second collar LOL but to be honest... i only use them to get them "off of them" i have an IDIOT neighbor and he has caused me alot of problems and had no choice i will not get rid of my dogs so i know their character can handle these collars so we use them.. if i had any thought they couldnt i wouldnt use them...
let me know how it works.. i just think the few i need them for will just bark to get off on the damn smell lol

Yes, I have both a "bark activated" and a remote citronella collar. Both work great for Blitz. They work for most, but not all so try to borrow one to try before you invest in one. They are cheapest on the internet, just do a google and be sure to buy a refill and some extra batteries. Batteries are almost impossible to find in stores. I think The Pampered Pet has the best prices on the net.
One word of caution, I would not use these (or any collars) if more than 2 dogs are kenneled together. One cana chew a collar off the other and might eat part of it. A friend lost a dog that ate his kennel mate's flea collar. Some dogs have bizarre appetites.

I've tried the Citro.collar on my Corgis- it doesn't work. They started barking just to make it spray...
they liked it and I seemed to spend more time keeping it filled. Each dog is different and your dogs may not like it, which will keep them from barking.

Shoot, nothing works for a Corgi except a good de-barking. I co-own some dogs with a friend who keeps Corgis as house dogs and both have had to be debarked so the neighbors didn't revolt. I used to get the biggest kick out of watching the little bitch running around the yard barking and barking at nothing. She just liked to bark LOL.

Dawnmarie,
Why is he an idiot neighbor? Just because he is not into GSD's and loud barking doesn't make him a raving lunatic. If you have too many dogs in an area with neighbors close by, I would see you in municipal court too. I don't allow my dogs to annoy my neighbors.

Animules,
I have them for all my kennel dogs and they work extremeley well. Yes, they will still give an occasional bark but then it stops immediately instead of continuing and becoming a nuisance to neighbours. There was one dog we had that it didn't work for but the rest have been a real success. Good Luck.
PS, You must not let them run out, particularly at the beginning when you will be filling them up a lot but this reduces over a few weeks.

ummm no thats not why he is an idiot neighbor lol he is actually an a$$hole neighbor if you must know who causes problems for the whole neighborhood... gets drunk and calls the town if you leave a battery on the side of your house or if you have two litters a year, tells them you are a puppy mill, actually to be honest, he has only called the town when the dogs were not barking they came out and see my dogs are totally behaved and they find out when my next litter is coming so they can get one lol i have become great friends with ACO now because of him, they love my set up and see how good i am with my dogs and responsible, they see how well behaved the dogs are...they even refer people to me, they loved the idea of my 3 page questionnaire that i have before i even consider a puppy to go somewhere... see in my town, there is nuisance barking law its like 15 min of consistent barking and a dog that is having fun playing with me in the yard is not nuisance barking... my dogs have not been constantly loud barking for more than maybe 5 minutes, i have 10 other neighbors who tell me most of the time they cant even hear them, they hear me screaming at them more than the dogs actually barking lol
sorry i pay my taxes and my dogs can bark in joy or even bark at each other any time between 8am and 8pm for a minute or two once in awhile...
if it lasts for say 15 minutes continous then yes the idiot can call ACO but i dont let that happen.
and fyi, you wouldnt be taking me to municipal court anyway because i can have as many dogs as i want in my town and i am respectful to my neighbors even the a$$hole next door, why do you think i have bark collars on my dogs because i want to torture them? lol no, because i dont want them to bother the neighbors

Yep, the citronella have worked for my dogs. Another word of warning regarding 2 dogs together in the kennel where only one has a collar one - the other dog can bark & set the collar off on the other dog! Youn can also get odorless refill sprays - works just as well, and they are cheaper - its the hiss that stops behaviour backed up by the spray. But then there are some dogs that arnt bothered by them & will bark through them - oh joys of joys!
