Hello!
Im hoping somebody may know about German Tattoo numbers!
Im trying to locate info on a dog with the Tattoo number LBE 3897
Its quite hard to make out if the 'B' is definately a B so I could be wrong.
Any information anybody may have I would be extremely grateful.
Thanks in advance,
Jason.

Possibly UK rather than German ? Could the middle letter actually be a 'computer "O" - i.e. an 'O' or zero, with a bar crossed through it ?
If you think that's a possibility, ring National Dog Tattoo Registry on 44 (1)255 552455.
Try cleaning the letters up a bit to make it easier to read; use a little Surgical Spirit on cotton wool.

The dog was definately imported from Germany! He has had a couple of homes (Police) while in the UK, hence details are 'lost'.
Thanks for your help though.

If you email Sabine @ the SV office, she can confirm whether that's an SV tattoo number or not, as well as possibly give you some info, and fortunately for those of us who only know our own language, Sabine speaks English, too.
Her email address: akc@schaferhund.de There's probably an email address for people wanting to transfer registrations from the SV to the UK's Kennel Club, too, but since I'm not sure of that, I figure Sabine can probably still be of help to you.

I thought the tattoo might be British, not the dog ! What you say in second post makes it even more likely.
Some Police Dog Sections get the tattooists in, could have been done while an adult. HAVE you asked the Register ?
[I don't want to categorically state that isn't a German number ... but it doesn't look right to me -
see what Sabine says]

Hi Guys,
I checked with the NDTR and it wasn't a UK Tattoo..........
Anyway, it turns out the 'B' was something my eyes were telling me was there but on looking closely it wasnt!
Sabine has been most helpful and confirmed who I had hoped the dog was and its Darren vom Flutgraben!
I have his breeder details but cant seem to find who his previous owner was.
Does anyone have any info?
Really apreciate the email address for Sabine! Thankyou.
Thanks for all the replies so far. I've been a lurker on this board for a few years now and glad I asked a question!
Kind regards,
Jason.

Jason - which was the first Police Force and roughly what date (year will do) did they get him ? Might be able to trace him being imported, through BRS.?

FWIW, according to the working-dog.eu site, a litter sister, Dena vom Flutgraben, is in the US and owned by Gabor Szilasi, of von Tajgetosz GSDs in Tennessee, USA and Hungary.
Another litter sister, Diva vom Flutgraben, is shown as owned by Andrea Dombrowski in Germany.
Perhaps one of these individuals could help you piece together the info you're seeking.

That's a rather nice pedigree.

Ugh - no Kennel Club record for him at all (under that spelling, anyway) - so it looks as though maybe he
was brought in without being put on any UK paperwork ?
