Hi all,
Can I use vaseline -petroleum jelly- in the dry spots to moisturize them??
Any body knows if its good??

Normally with hotspots you want them TO dry out. I usually cut and shave all the hair from the area, spray with Vetericyn to clean/disinfect, pat dry, and then apply Neo-predef powder to keep it try and clean.

The spots are dry now and the wound is healed already
But i want to know if the vaseline good to moisturize the dry area??

Hi, paco86. Most dogs love to eat Vaseline, so your dog will probably lick the area to get the Vaseline, causing more problems. If the spot is healed and the dog is not bothering it, why not leave it, the hair will grow back.

I've used a dab of Antibiotic ointment;
especially if the area has scabs, or dry, as that seemed to cause more itching in itself for my Cairn Terrier.

No! Vaseline and petroleum jelly are only prevent the skin from getting wet. It's just a film on top of the skin but doesn't acutally moisturize it.
Use Calendula creme.

Petroleum Jelly has been used for years for dry skin. Not that I'd use it on a dog, I use what I have available at the time.

Vetericyn, hands down, best stuff on the market and worth every penny.

Thanks all for your responses.
The wound is healed already he is not scratching on it any more.
NOW do i have to apply something on it or to keep it as it is and the hair will grow normally?

There is no need to treat it with anything if it is healed. The hair will grow back by itself.
