K9 Magnum was shot by a suspect this morning whom he was tracking after a bank robbery. He is being well cared for and is apparently in stable condition. I haven't lived in Anderson for several years but I think that makes for two of the three K9's on the force having been taken out of service in the past three weeks. The suspect is in custody.

Glad Magnum looks as though he will be ok eventually. At least these two were shot in line of duty by the
perps - it wasn't 'friendly fire' for a change ...

Hundmutter, I share your good will towards this k9 shot in the line of duty. But, one incident of a k9 being shot by fellow police officer, does not deserve the " for a change" comment. Btw,Being shot by "friendly fire" implies accidental.

I've heard of more than 'one incident' Joanro. And you may interpret 'friendly fire' as 'accidental' but lots
of accidents can be prevented ...

It's not my "interpretation"..."friendly fire" means just that...it's being caught in the line of fire and accidentally shot during a battle by your own people.

In certain circumstances it rather stretches the credibility of the word "accidental" IMO; but you can go on
believing whatever you want to believe, it doesn't matter to me. I'm sure all LEOs who ever claimed they
had 'accidentally' shot either a K9 or another dog, or a human, really believe they were telling the truth;
others might argue they'd been negligent/careless, at best. OK - Not ALL of them; not EVERY time - doesn't make it go away if it does apply, though.

Nevermind, it isn't worth it.

Hundmutter, you don't know from whence you speak.... that's My opinion!

Slamdunc, there are many here who value your opinion, including me.

Triodegirl,
Thanks, for the nice comment. I had posted a response earlier and thought better of it and wanted to completely delete it; the best I could do was edit it.
I do hope the K-9 makes a speedy recovery.
