Most people who don't necessarily know the bloodlines or what they will or won't do for you will just look at the dog's results in the field...And think this is the best there is...
Pedigrees...Trial Results...Are only a tool...Or only a part of the equation to how or what you should or shouldn't breed...
As far as choosing a particular color or trait...It's up to the individual...Most serious trainers who want a Very Good dog for working...Trialing...Will have their #1 Priority as "Working Ability"...Then down the line maybe Color...or this or that...
Then breeding is a different story altogether...The best way to know what a dog breeds is to look at their history...What have they produced and how are they working...
When you're talking about breeding you must first know what is it that you're trying to produce...What's your goal...
I've talked to people who are breeding and ask them what's their Goal in breeding and they act like I'm saying something that's forgein...Maybe I am...

It's practically a guarantee to get a WL dog in sable or black anyway, just by default. Bicolor's aren't so very common in breeder's lines, and Black/Tans are even rarer, except with showline crosses. One with "excellent potential and lines everyone is looking for", sounds like a good candidate for a Bomber daughter out of an exceptional bitch. With as many offspring as he's had, there "ought to be" some titled ones available.
