JOZOLLI

Thought I'd start a new thread here since the last working breeds thread appears to have broken down into the usual slanging match. I read with interest however the views of Scotty/Rab on the show and was pleasantly surprised to find him honest and open and he DIDNT EVEN MENTION his own class win. Well done Rab! In the interests of discussion heres how I saw the show - I was somewhat unimpressed by the puppy classes but that has been the case for a few months now in Scotland / UK... it is a little worrying but as we approach the 'closed season' im sure breeders have interesting plans 'up their sleeves'. Junior dog was won by our own dog and I was thrilled of course - BUT, what I found particularly gratifying was the immediate congratulations from the owners of the second dog - the seldom beaten Tizer! Both of the Seymours and Andrew made a point of congratulating us even though they must have been sorely disappointed. For me, Tizer is a sure ticket dog and I wondered if WBAS might have been his day prior to the show - but on the day I think perhaps he showed that he is a big ourdoor ring boy and didnt show to his best advantage at the venue. IMO - we are simply blessed that our lad is an utter nutter and has a one track mind - WHERES MUM! So he shows in any ring. He, Quantas Master (who was 3rd - another excellent young male) and Tizer HAVE swapped places several times and I for one have done countless photographs of Tizer and always chat to the owners/handlers afterwards. Judges will chose what they like after all, so Xandro had his day. Surely thats the way we should all be showing....? I found the dogs as a whole disappointing - but undoubtedly Colin was the one to beat and he rightly took his title. Congratulations - it was hardly his first big win or a set up as villesgay et al seem to imply??? Ajax took the res cc and I was delighted for Jackie who puts her heart and soul into the dog. In females Rab already mentioned two excellent SYB's. And I agree wholeheartedly - big things for them in the future. Either of the two open females could have taken the class - both are superb - and again - the judge decided who she preferred. But the third and fouth females were also top quality. The limit female I have commented on before. She is one of the most consistant and surely unluckiest females in the UK. Anatomically she is very very good - I felt she didnt perform as she can (a bit like tizer) but that is showing after all. She is one a few females who actually deserve top wins - shes very unlucky not to be closer to her title. IMO of course. It was another class of good quality females. When people comment on this database constructively it is a great place to be..., but when people who dont even attend the show have a go at judges, dogs etc... they are not taking the venue, performance etc into account. Opinions are skewed and god knows who beleives the garbage some folk muster.... Well done rab - and hats of to the Seymours - you guys were the highlight of my day... if only as an indication of light in a dark old world!

Thank you so much Jozolli for the above. You have said what I would have loved to have said, but I really think that with the vitreol that was flying around I was not going to mention any one dog in particular from MY seat, as it would have caused that poor dog to have been torn apart perhaps. I really enjoyed my day, and the only slightly sad thing for me was that some excellent animals went without the first card - that is inevitable, and the exhibitors (yourselves) were excellent. Thanks so much to all - lets hope this thread, is much more positive, if there is anything left to say. Regards Mo - Mascani

I can say in all honesty I had no idea who would win under this judge, despite speculation - as I said, I fancied the 'on form' Tizer - but as Penny stated elsewhere - you look at the catalogue and have a fair idea on the day - after doing so, and my 'tip' being beaten I was as sure as one can be, that it was Colins day - and this is by no means a reflection on Mo - its merely a fact! I too must be guilty of prior knowledge, as I 'was as sure as I could be' having looked at the the catalogue that Darcey could win Post Grad - thats COULD win - not would - she still had to perform after all! And she did do. But again - a reflection on her current condition, performance and the rest of the class! At the end of the day, had Mo not liked her enough we wouldnt have won - end of story. I wish more people could join discussions on this board and 'keep the heid' as we say in scotland. I learn at each show - from new and old enthusiasts alike, and I have respect for many breeders and exhibitors - some of whom I cannot say I particularly like... lol! But I chose not to spew garbage about them or slag their dogs etc. I will state my opinion, and I enjoy hearing the opinion of others - without the negativity preferrably. Its my current opinion that SOME of the recent comments have been a little more positive than usual - I only hope its the sign of things to come. (and before anyone jumps down my throat - I KNOW I have argued points vehemently on this board before - I just prefer NOT TO - discussion is so much more rewarding)
