Hi, I hope to get an answer to a question I am posting here:
I have a breeder of GSD's in Germany that would have
his son bring over a puppy for me. He would be arriving in Los Angeles
with the pup, but apparently has little time. I am supposed to pick up the
puppy from the airport. How does one go through customs there? Is it different
now that the puppy goes as luggage? Does the son have to do that?
I don't know what I am getting myself into at the airport, would love to hear
from any of you who have done something like this. I have imported
a puppy before, by just having it shipped and then picked up at the
freight office of the airline and done the paperwork at customs (Homeland security)
but not at LA.

You can always directly contact whatever airlines he's flying in on, explain the situation, and they will tell you exactly what you will need to do.
