just trying to get your opinion about my new pup female, she is 12 weeks old now, very dominant....jumps on legs and little dogs and humps....nobody can pet her including me because she bites, try stop her and she fights back bark and growls, she is a little devil, all she wants to do is fight,I had puppies before and I know they are all little devils, but this one is something else....here is her pedigree to give some idea http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/para.utkoma?fadir=431064&modir=424104

LOL yup those are my fav lines, you wanna send her to me if she is too much...haha. What are your plans with this dog?

by flipfinish on 02 November 2006 - 00:11

I had some pups with the Antverpa lines, they seemed to be very much like this one. Prey drive is always high with these lines as well and that can cause them to be mouthy. My advice is socialize her to death. Spend time playing with her and wear her out before you try to pet her. Some would say I am nuts, but a good soft leather tug something might be a good re-director of the bite. Let her win it right away and as long as she is carrying that she cant bite anyone. I also don't think a stern "no" is out of order either. I think sometimes we get so concerned with squelching drive we let our pups go too far, you should have a pup that can handle correction without ill effects. Sounds like your gonna need it. But what a great problem to have, easier to modify drive than create drive that doesnt exist. Good luck!

Orry von Haus Antverpa. Thats enough to say. He is a wonderful dog to have in your bloodline. Throws great pups

I noticed you have ad for DDR female.

by Black Sable on 02 November 2006 - 01:11

Yeah, she is very nice lines and very dark sable....Orry is my fav dog and she is line breed to him, just have to watch for her, when switch goes on she runs around like there is no tomorrow, jumps on top of things I would never think she can jump, and jump off any heights, ther is no fear,I hope her hips will survive.....yes I do socialize every day she is in different spots like super market, schools,so a lot of people and kids are playing with her every day,but still she is something, plus she was pick of the litter and then I could see that she was the boss...she is my new SchH prospect and the way she is now,she will be a chalange

ever worked a handler hard dog? Sounds like you are doing all you can, try the soft leather tug. Worked for me. Sounds like a fun time. Best wishes, look forward to seeing her win some events!

Black Sable, your pup sounds just like my old Fero granddaughter when she was a baby. High dominance, high prey drive, medium civil drive. The best and most intelligent dog that I ever owned. You pup sounds like my kind of girl. You make the excellent realization that she will take a strong but fair hand to train. I still think you have an excellent female. Bob-O

Black Sable, I don't know if you know but I just read that Gizmo did a 100 pt FH in Germany last week. I have a Gizmo daughter also and she's a bit "over" the top. Smart, drivey puppy.

Yes. My pups at 4 weeks are already starting to show the same behavior especially after eating they real rowdy. Have fun with your girl use redirection as much as possible with her and it will help you down the road.
