Does anyone have copies I can review,or know where I can view actual examples of hip radiographs and what ratings they have received? It can be either SV or OFA.
Thank you

What is it exactly that you are looking for? My vet uses digital technology to directly submit to OFA and I have copies of those digital images, both elbows and hips, for many of my dogs.

Hi all,
This is not really a reply to what this question was but pertains to hip/elbow x-rays. Took my dog to the vet today for the OFA x-rays. Went to pick him up this afternoon and oh my, there was a problem. Imagine that. My vet does know what to put on the x-rays, they have done other dogs for me. For some reason nothing but the hips/elbows showed up on the x-ray. Would not copy the name, date, clinic name etc. My question is this. Since my dog was imported and has the A stamp on the original papers do you all think that this would be sufficient? I do not want to put my guy through the trama of this again. I hate having to have a dog sedated. When I picked up my dog, the x-ray machine wasn't working at all. They did get 3 each of the hips and elbows. OFA won't take them without the required information on the x-ray.
Thanks

Immyjay, if the dog is already "a" stamped that is usually good enough, unless he received an "a"2 or "a"3 and you really want to see how he is past the age of two (2) years. This is not an uncommon practice, and I would want to see an O.F.A. score as well.
You are right in the fact that the O.F.A. will not score these x-rays for your dog and furnish O.F.A. numbers, but you may still be able to send them to the O.F.A. for an "unofficial" evaluation. I never tried that, but you can contact them at their web address http://www.offa.org and see if for a small fee they will do that for you. It may help to have your veterinarian write a short memo describing what happened.

i also had this happen to me. I am also a Vet Tech.
You only need to hav your vet call the OFA , They will then have the vet burn it into the film and write a letter stating that they had to burn it into the already taken x-ray and sign that yes they did the burning and took x-rays of that dog. They will then read and give your dog a OFA number.

Hey, thanks so much. Will call my vet Thursday morning and let them know that they can do this. They are closed tomorrow. Very nice folks at the clinic and I'm sure they will do all that they can do. Bob O, on the original pedigree his papers are stamped A and when he was advertised they said he was A1 but I don't have anything showing that and don't know how to find it. His x-rays looked VERY good when I saw them today at the vets office. I just wanted to do it to see where we stand in comparison with the A stamps and OFA.
Thanks again

Part of the problem with a dog rated OFA good is that it is a VERY broad rating. Most people don't know this. Let me explain...
The OFA exray is read by 3 vets, who each give it a rating. In order for a dog to go Excellent all 3 ratings have to be excellent. In order for a dog to go Fair, all 3 ratings must be fair. Now... that leaves us a VAST range in what a good is. Good can be:
2 excellents and 1 good
2 goods and 1 excellent
3 goods
2 goods and 1 fair
2 fair and 1 good etc.
BTW anyone can ask OFA for their dog's 3 ratings so that you have a better picture as to where the dog is in the range.
This may pose a problem for you compare the exrays. But, in my opinion, it is always interesting to look.
