Hi ppl I am considering breeding my German shepherd bitch, just doing some research and wanted to know does a stud dog perform better at home than away at mating?
also if the stud does has to travel will it effect his potency or ardor?

I think it depends on if it is true love,
or just a fling

You need to ask the stud owner which they prefer......... I prefer to keep my boy at home.

stud dogs work better on there territory and most breeders are going to want you to come to them.
some stud are fine off terrotory it all depends on the dog.

Put it this way : how much are you up to performing, yourself, if you've just had a long and trying journey ? Of course it can affect the stud's ability to perform; just one of the reasons stud owners normally prefer bitches to be brought to their dogs, and not the other way around. Quite what this says about our attitudes to the stamina and compliance of our females is another question.
Seriously, I don't think there is evidence collected one way or the other to state whether making a dog travel to the bitch would affect the number of puppies he throws or anything like that.
As posters have said:
its open to negotiation with the owner, just be aware that traditionally the 'boy' stays at home.

- does a stud dog perform better at home than away at mating?
Just ask any man who came back from a trip out of town.
