Rally for strangled dog Sunday in Branford CT
http://www.nhregister.com/articles/2012/06/02/news/shoreline/doc4fc9903934c3b008074009.txtExcerpt from article:
"Those who seek “Justice for Desmond” are planning to raise awareness on the town Green Sunday, coinciding with the first day of Branford’s restaurant week.....
....The warrant details Wullaert’s alleged confession after police found the dog’s body. Wullaert said that on Jan. 12 Desmond had bit him when he tried to put a collar on him, and urinated on Wullaert’s leg at the apartment.
He allegedly told police he went into an uncontrollable rage, lifted Desmond off the ground by the collar, twisting it until the dog died. He told police of how he covered the dog’s eyes with a Walmart bag because they remained open after he had died, before driving to Madison.... "
What do you think, maybe there should be classes taught in the schools that teach people empathy for pets? Would it do any good? How could poor Desmond have been kept safe? Or do we just accept that the public will always have a portion of the population that will murder animals in a fit or on a whim?

How awful! I heard about this on the news. Poor dog. Sadly, no matter how hard we try to educate people, there will always be those who have no regard for living things.

Wow, and I guess it isn't all that uncommon! The common man often has much to learn about the value of a companion animal's life. Is this something society is neglecting to teach? Can it even be something that is taught, or does human culture allow it, simply by meting minimal punishments to offenders?
