K9261

by K9261 on 30 May 2012 - 03:05

I have a 1 year old SOLID BLACK male who's sire is an import and an 18 month old black/tan female who mated over the last few days. I am just curious as to what colors can be expected ? This is their first matting and/or litter for either.

Just for a start both of your dogs are way to young to breed and they are both too young to have had all health testing.

What about hips / elbows ?

You people just make me shake my head (:(:(:

You state that it is the first litter for either of them !!!!!!!!

Once again it is all about the $$$$$$$$

The male is really too young to breed, but the female is fine. She is old enough. Yes definetely make sure you check at least the hips and elbows next time before you let them breed. I would say that the puppies will mostly be black and tan. There is a small possibility that you will have a solid black one. Hope this helps!

Both parents are very young, both too young to breed IMO.  Most likely you will have all dark blk/tan-red/bi-color unless the female carries a back recessive, in which case you can have a few black puppies.

okay, the dogs aren't health tested. just throwing it out there, would you shake your head at someone breeding two ofa fair dogs if they could take the fair bitch to an excelent male instead? What if he keeps a couple of the pups for himself as pets and ends up putting them on meds for hip displasia if they develop it?

Sorry, I just get a kick out of looking at things from a different angle. I wouldn't buy these pups if I had another option but maybe this person has a plan from them.

Guess you can't blame color as the motive when that much was even uncertain.

I have to ask - why have you bred your 2 young dogs? Why haven't you waited until they are titled and/or health tested at the very least? Do you have a waiting list for any pups? Was this a deliberate mating? If not, have you sought veterinary advice on options such as the mismate job? If it was a deliberate mating, why on earth could you not hve waited until they were both fully mature?

Well, we've all either ourselves bought expensive pups from titled health certified parents and have seen horrible hips, or know someone who has been screwed with a horrid pup.  So, I'd buy one of these pups if I really liked the parents IF the price matched the work involved.  Nothing worse than a breeder that doesn't health test his pups and still charges a ridiculous price.

To answer the OP's question, depending on the other dogs in the pedigree you will get, blanket black/tan, blacks (if the mother has black recessive) possible Bi-colours.
