I have a 22 month old border collie that I show in agility.  She is raw fed has been since a pup.  She occaisionally gets kibble Orijen (fish).  Question regarding the best foods for energy.  We are going to a 4 day trial. We have been away before but usually only 2 day trials.  She tends not to eat well when we are on the road. What are the best foods/food combinations/supplements you would recommend for a dog who will be working hard for 4 days and does have some stress over traveling. I feed her 2x a day.  When traveling I am lucky if she eats part of a meal 1x a day.  She has always been picky even though I don't give in to this, if she doesn't eat it for breakfast she gets the same meal for dinner.

The breeder said the morning meal shouldn't be meat(although she doesn't feed raw)she said it is too heavy to feed before working and will sit in the gut.  I have not had a problem with this but just want to do what is best

My plan as of right now

A.M.  Feed cottage cheese with a raw egg and Honest Kitchen preference.

P.M.  Minced meat or raw meaty bones(duck necks, chicken necks) and some green tripe.

Any other suggestions?? to keep energy level up and body from stressing too much?

Thanks in advance for help

I would personally go the other way and feed raw meat in the morning. The HK preference is actually going to take much longer to digest than the meat. Other than that I think your plan sounds good. It's best to not change things up anyway when you know the dog is going to be stressed.

Thank you Molly.  I always was under the impression the raw meat was more highly digestable than anything else, then the breeder sort of confused me.  She was saying to feed her some balck beans with the cottage cheese and egg as they are a complete protein and meat is not.  After checking on this I realize she had it backwards.  So meat meal in A.M. and then dinner HK and what ever else I mix in.

Aprreciate the response:)
