If the BSP is the German National Working Trial, WUSV qualifier for Germany and the Americans have the GSDCA-WDA Nationals, WUSV World Team Qualifier and the USA National Schutzhund 3 Championship, WUSV World Team Qualifier. The DVG nationals for the VDH competition. Then their is the AWDF Championships, which USA is going to start using instead for a WUSV qualifier. If all these events are equivalents and parallels of each other which is the better or true measuring stick of working dogs in the USA. Why is the BSP treated so highly when it is the equivalent of the GSDCA-WDA Nationals in the USA?

It is not the true equilivent to the WDA or USA. For the BSP, one have to qualify at the Regional level. Certain # go to the BSP. Then top ones to WUSV . WDA has one National trial with no other trial or score qualifications to enter. Top 2-3 go, depending on the year USA has the USA Nationals, North Americans (no requirement), HOT Trial (restricted to Handler Owner Trained, no other requirements) and AWDF (no other requirements). For the USA Nationals, you need to participate in a Regional, but you can use a qualifying score (270)from a club trial. There a few minor other restrictions that are on the updated form. Top average scores, and you must have participated in the USA Nationals or the NA.

SKI, Great post, I would like to piggy back off of it if you don't mind. Just to show up at the BSP is an honor. Every dog there earned the right to be there. They have qualified at a regional level and in many regions the qualification process is different. It is my understanding that in some regions you must actually trial successfully at anoter regions trial just to meet the criteria for their selection process to represent that region. If your dog is not the best 5 or 6 dogs in its region it does not go! In my opinion that is why the BSP is treated so highly. Shawn
