Hello all,
What are some signs that can be seen in puppies of poor pigment? Some of the pads on my puppies feet are pink. Her lips are kind of pinkish as well not totally pink but not totally black. Also her nose is not all the way black either and she has some white hairs on her toes and a couple of toe nails are partly clear. Are these somes signs? Would this be expected from her breeding or inbreeding? You can view her pedigree at Viernheimi Fanta.

Sounds like someone is describing a typical litter of German Shepherd NEWBORNS. Congratulations!

oops! Scratch the previous post, I thought you were refering to a LITTER of puppies.

Oh, so this normal? From the pictures of her littermates they have some of the same characteristics. She is only 10wks. Will all these features darken up as she gets older?

gsds can do some astonishing color changes ar they grow up. usually they lighten but i have seen some, especially lighter sables (which go through some bizarre color changes) darken in color. in my experience 6 months will tell. what color is she?

AT 10 weeks, I would think the pads, noses, toenails and gumline, should have turned to black. I went back to some previous picturs of litters at that age and they are all black.

Yes I agree, the white toes might persist a little longer but the nails and noses I am sure should be black by now. Though in the photo the nose does not look pale?
