Hello everyone, Well first of all I have a new puppy you can see her under Viernheimi Fanta. She is great. But I was wondering is it normal for puppies to be uninterested in other people other than me. People come over to see her and they want to rub on her and play with her, but she won't. She will show some interest at first and after about 3 minutes she just walk away. Then everyone always comments on how relaxed she is, they say she is not like most puppies they come in contact with that are hyper and energetic. She will play and entertain for a few minutes but then she goes right to sleep. Is she displaying normal behavior? Thanks so much

Gimmee10mins, young puppies become sleepy very quickly, even after a short exercise. And, once they start bonding with someone, it is quite a while before they accept other people. What you have sounds very normal for a baby; I am presuming that she is but a few weeks old? They sleep a lot at that age. Bob-O

The age makes alot of difference. Plus some GSD's are aloof to anyone but their owner or whomever they bond with.

If she is a NEW puppy, you are probably the CONSTANT in her new world, having left the comfort of her old environment. Everything else is changing around her(new people, new environment), but you are one factor she is most comfortable with at the present moment. As she matures, and is exposed to more, the more outgoing she will become. Nice pedigree. Stephen

I have whole litters that will act that way, someone comes to look at them, they greet the newcomers, pay attention to them for a short period of time then go on about there puppy buisness of exploreing so on. I attribute this to the fact that they get alot of attention from us and are not starveing for attention. Sort of like the pups at pet stores, they are either extremely shy or so excited to see people they can't get enough attention.

It is definatly the Ursus line. When it comes to breeding her, if she were mine, I would only breed her with Ursus free studs. I know, another topic, but just my opinion.
