Hello Peter, Maybe your girl has not fleas visible,  usually it can be an allergic reaction from insect  or flea bites. Just one little flea bite can develop a big allergic reaction on dogs.

You should give her a 2cc shot with corticioid medicine available, maybe you can find Atriben.  This will stop itching.

In addition you should apply inmediately revolution for dogs in the skin, and do it monthly. This treatment will solve your problem.  Good luck.

Better  if y ou check with your vet.

How old is she?
Has she ever itched like this before?
If not, what has changed?
Same food? Same house? Same state?
This is allergy season here in NY...could it be that?
Food allergy?  I feed raw...stopped my guy's allergy...but he is also allergic to chicken so no raw chicken. Food allergy hard to pinpoint as yu have to eliminate specific food groups over time to see if it helps (NO SNACKS)!
Dust mites?  Vet can test for allergies (except food).
And then there are the fleas.
Examine your dogs life before the itchng and now....try to find a change that could be causing itching.
Good luck.

Your vet may also check for mange mites.

Hi Peter
I would just check in with the vet too.

Re the oatmeal shampoo, While it probably won't solve what's going on, it won't do any harm, and it will get her used to being bathed. I use Coatex Oatmeal and Aloe Vera shampoo when I need to bath mine, and you leave it on for 5 minutes.

It is a good idea for them to become accustomed to being bathed before they become full grown LOL. JMO.

How soon did the itching start after you switched food?  Compare ingredients.  See vet...if vet cannot find any allergies or mange or fleas....good chance it is a food allergy.
