czech registration papers - Page 1

What is your experience with obtaining czech registration papers. I have heard some breeders provide it in  a few weeks, others take upto 6-7 months. Does anyone know what the process is, and what might account for this difference in processing.

I didn't have any problems when I imported my female. I was emailed copies of all her papers & the breeder sent hard copies with the dog when shipped. It didn't take very long to recieve the originals, about 2 months give or take a week(don't remember exactly). What sometimes takes awhile is the breeder getting the export pedigree verified & sent back from the kennel club, so the breeder can then send it out to the buyer.

I say 2 months tops.  It shouldn't take 6-7 months.

I get to sound like the fly in the ointment but ...

Both my dogs were Czech imports and it took approximately 6 months to get the papers.   But no longer than 6 months at at that time I recieved the papers in proper order and the bill of sale, no problems.

Can anyone figure out why this time difference in processing. I suppose the initial owner is the breeder, and then the new name of the buyer in the US is added. Is it this step which increases the time ?.

Why it takes some 6-7 months is beyond me.  Again it shouldn't take no longer than 2 months.  I guess that as long as you get the papers that is all that matters.

Well its sort of important, because I was told (by customs!) that for imports, you have to register within one year with AKC. The bigger the delay, the less time to register. Dont know the accuracy of this, or even what advantages there might be with AKC registration.
My main interest is to understand why certain breeders take so long and others dont. Are there 2 types of pedigrees, regular czech and an export variety ?.

An Adult dog that has EVERYTHING in Czech in order (has not gone to recent shows, the title has been older, breed survey has been put on the dog a while ago and all the paperwork from the club has been received by the current owner)
Adult male or female import should not take longer than about 6 weeks.
If the seller has all the paperwork, then they send it to the club, which takes sometimes up to a month (I had papers left at the post office once and prolonged the process by about 6 weeks) then mailing takes sometimes up to 2 weeks. There you have it, about 4-6 weeks.

But if the female, male recently obtained a title or a breed survey, first this paperwork needs to be in order. That can take up to a month to get back from the club. Then they have to submit the papers for the export pedigree, that takes the + 6 weeks and here you have 2-3 months waiting time. Sometimes it takes a week to get everything back, sometimes a month depending how backed up they are at the club.

If you import a female in whelp and this dog is bred to a Czech stud, that is another month or so adding to the time. If the bitch was bred to a stud outside Czech then we are talking out adding even more time.

I tell people that if everything goes smoothly, all the paperwork is processed then give it two months. They are happy when the papers arrive in a month. If I import a female in whelp, we talk up to 5 months because there are "other" people besides the seller involved, depending on the agreement and what stud they used.

Yes, for a puppy, 2 months max.

I had my breeder in the czech send me my female pups pedigree in a month and a half.  The cost for postage and transfer of papers....$30 USD.
