I have a black with tan point AKC registgered German shepherd male. I took him to visit a tan and black CKC female for the purpose of producing a pup for my son-in-law. I know all the arguements for not breeding to produce more pups. This male is 6 years old and has never been bred and probably never willl again. (I had a very bad experience after having an older dog neutered and it died.) My question is that the owner of the female (who lives 90 miles away). now tells me the pups have unusual white markings and apparently her female carries the white spot gene. I counted back from the day she said the pup were born and it is in the time frame my dog was there. I just want to know if anyone has a simliar experience. I don't know whether to believe the lady or not, or do you think thre is something "funny" going on?

you mean markings like those on the face, behind ears and chest?
Or do you mean white hairs on toes or a patch on the chest?

I haven't seen pups yet or seen any pictures. I am waiting to get more information from the owner of female.

Some white hairs on toes and a small patch on chest is common in some lines, whereas white markings and whites on inside of thighs is not common nor acceptable according to the standard.

When you see pics, google "panda german shepherds" and see if they look similar. If you are in doubt that your dog sired the litter, assuming it will be registered, ask for DNA on the puppies before signing the registration application. If they won't be registered, nothing you can do.

You can't really do anything until you see exactly what they are talking about, i.e. where and how much white. I've had pups from import parents with tips of toes white, and a white spot on chests. That is not unusual. You can also DNA the pups if you are in doubt the pups are sired by your male.
