I didn't know if it was kosher to post a different question under someone else' thread so here goes!

Our girl is 15 months and has Pano off and on her whole life. We have switched her diet from Kirkland Costco food, to Grandma Z's grain free food, to TOTW to try and fix it. We have been told too much protein could be the cause, some say it's not the cause, don't excersice or give pain pill, please do give pain pills excersice her normally.

We have scene two different vets to get their expertise, one did an x ray, the other did not. The one who did the x ray said that he could not see pano, or any other reason as to what could be going on, so that it was probably more likely pano. So just keep taking her on walks like usual, but make sure she isn't doing too much, here give her some pain pills and some antibiotics just in case. So, that's what we did.

A few weeks ago, it hit her same leg again, but it's bothering her much worse then normal, so we took her to the vet again, they didn't want to do an X-ray. She felt around her leg and thought it was Pano again. She is in a LOT of pain, and most people say that that's normal, for them to be in a LOT of pain, she moans, groans, mopes, sometimes doesnt' even put weight on her leg.

The reason why I am writing and seeking your help is this, there was a night a while back (maybe a week and half ago) that while I was messaging her leg the joint was HOT. At he time, I just thought hmm...that's odd. I saw on another thread that if it was hot then it could be HOD, I called my vet and asked about this, and they said that she didn't think it was HOD becuase it's not hot right now. She is a smaller vet, as we live in a smaller community.

What do you guys think? Becuase it was hot before, should we get her checked out/tested? Or is his common in pano as well?

Pano, rest him/her;  walks on leash, no ruffhousing at this time.  No med's either, that masks the condition and they can think they don't hurt anymore until they do some heavy running/jumping/cavorting etc.  Just on leash gentle exercise, use mental stimulation if needed that will probably help.  BOL  Nan

i have had a 8 month old puppy have Pano and i did keep the protien% down and let him do reqular excercise, when he was fine , but if he is hurting you would not want him to exercise. my boy had it very bad the good thing is most will be over the worst by 2 years. what i did for him is give him Ester C 1000mg once a day and within a week , you will see  it start to work, i kept him on this till i felt he was over the worst. it really does work and its gentle on the stomach it has both vit C and a little  calcium, hope this helps.

the dog can  feel  warm as pano does inflame the area, and cause infection, i would try and wait it out as it does sound like pano.  try the Ester C for a few weeks , what  do you  have to loss.

Tirxx, is that something you can get at the pet store? Or is that a health food store thing?

you can get Ester C at any human store walmart sell it and so do all pharmacy- its for people.
they sell it in 500 mg and 1000mg , get 1000mg.  my boy had it bad so i know where you are at and i was so glad when it was over with, each time it seem to be more painful. he only had it in the 2 front legs. a friend told me about it and it does work and the only other thing i used  for the first week till the Ester C kick in   was  baby asprin. ( only for short term.)
