I heard that the SV will no longer be assessing X-Rays as A1 or A2 or NZ, just pass or not.  Breedworthy or not.  Also I have heard that there will no longer be KKl1 and KKl2 just again, pass or fail for breedworthiness.
I have to resurvey my female this year.  She is currently KKl1.  I don't want to lose that.
Can anyone who is knowledgeable about the SV system elaborate?  What is true and what is not?
Thanks

Hi Connie,

The SV "Koerordnung" of 2011 doesn't mention any Koerklasse. However, on the SV website Koerklasse 1 and 2 are still mentioned.
I guess there is currently a great confusion.
The newest edition of the SV "Zuchtordnung" (2011) only mentions the "a" stamp, without specifications though, but differentiates ED-ratings as "normal", "fast normal" and "noch zugelassen".

I also would like to know the benefits of sending HD Xrays from Canada via US to the SV instead of getting the OFA rating.

Maybe there is a Koermeister on this forum that can answer this?

If there is anyone that knows the answer and it proves to be true (I heard something similar, though it doesn't affect me as a non breeder) also what is given as the reason for the change which seems detrimental to me?

If the information posted here by wanderer is correct then it is a backward step in the fight against dysplasia.  How will breeders be able to tell how near to perfect are the hips and elbows of any matings?   Would you want to risk a mating relying only on this information - a pass, or, failure?   Who will take the blame for any serious deterioration in the overall matter of trying to eradicate or significantly reduce dysplasia?   Will it be the breeders who take a beating or the SV?   Can you imagine the reaction from the public who will face higher and more frequent veterinary bills for their animals?   How much more would the working dogs become "unfit for purpose".   I really hope that this information is incorrect.

I,d make a wager that the rise of the non working working dog gave more rise to hip and joint issues because there was less focus on "if the dog will work" the lowering of the test criteria has helped given rise to the joint issue. I was just told the other day that "when the working dog had to work the work it,s self weeded out the cripples" it,s a intersting thought.

Sounds like they are "dumbing down". Same with changing Schutzhund to IPO, stick "pressure" instead of stick hits.

Its sad.

Yes I was part of a discussion on here last fall where a poster ascually said " Just the mere presence of the stick consitiutes pressure" It was over the lack of stick hits at a Sieger show. If your dog precieves threat from the presence of "the stick" you better find a different dog!.

TingiesandTails ,
The SV does not accept OFA Elbow ratings. So, if your kkl goes through the SV you will need to have an SV elbow rating. That's the benefit.

The SV will inform their members of any changes. Heresay should always be ignored until the SV formally make an announcement.

Thanks DJC, I know the SV doesn't accept it but for Canadian dog owners, this was the only option, however that will change soon, as we will soon be able to send xrays in through the US club, but I wonder what difference it will make for Canadian breeders as opposed to the current situation.

Videx, these changes are not speculation. These changes are present in the 2011 "Koerordnung" and 2011 "Zuchtordnung" which was published by the SV and agreed upon at the SV "Bundesversammlung" in May last year.
Here is the (German) link:
http://www.schaeferhund.de/site/fileadmin/pdf/presseinfo/2011/SVZTG_07-2011a.pdf

There are speculations however on how Koermeister will implement these changes here in North America and how it will effect us.

Just want to add that if you open the link, go to page 428 - 429 - you will see the changes in the Koerordnung as Koerklasse is changed into Koerung.
