Recently there was mentioned an article by Louis C. Donald entitled, A DISCUSSION PAPER ON THE STRUCTURE OF THE GERMAN SHEPHERD DOG.  This is the best, most comprehensive article I have ever read and think every newbbie should have and should study this discussion paper.  It should surely be in your library.

As far as you old hands, you too should have it. You can find it at www.gsdcouncil australia.org/articles.htm.  There are a couple of other articles that are interesting also.
This paper should be read, reread, and reread over and over, chewed up, munched, analyzed and enjoyed.  It will answer many of your questions.

One thing I would caution you about.  There will be some who w ill say " I don't agree with everything he says, but...."I would caution you to make them prove their position on the disagreement.  If they cannot make their case, disregard their comments.

Think about the following statement.  He/she who says they don't agree with everything in this paper is in essence saying "I know more about this than the author does."  REALLY!!!

Just a thought.   ecs

Thanks for the link!  I haven't had the time yet to read the entire thing but it looks fairly interesting from my initial scan.

It is a most interesting article.  One of the things I found most interesting is his tracing the beginning of the roach back.  He goes into depth on this.  It seems there are several threads asking about "roach" and he does an excellent job of explaining it.  If newbies are as concerned as they indicate they are by the two threads on here now, they and the "old hands" would be "going to bed" with this paper.  ecs
