Sara,
There is only one excercise where the dog must be muzzled and that is the heeling off leash. For all other excercises the dog is not muzzled. The dog will also only be on leash on the heeling on leash.In all other excercises, jumps, bitework etc. he will not only be off leash but he will also not be wearing a collar.
