Just a handy little reminder to people.
Before you send a dime to purchase that puppy,
be sure to verify that the sire and dam are in fact
AKC (or other) registered! 

This is not a reflection on our puppy, just something
that was confirmed today with a simple call to the AKC.

There has been a litter mentioned here VERY recently,
it is a 'repeat breeding' on a very young untitled not OFA'd
female that is NOT AKC registered.

The sire to the litter,  also NOT OFA'd, and also
NOT AKC registered.

The previous breeding was advertised for sale here as well.

Take 5 minutes of your time people, check facts before you buy!!
Not only should you ask to see proof of OFA, but go ahead and
VERIFY it with OFA. Same goes for AKC!

It will save you a lot of time bitching here later on that you
got screwed and never got papers on your dysplastic dog

What's  the reason for making such a breeding?

Blitzen, the answer is simple...

$$$$$

You'd probably make more $$$$$$ stealing and selling copper wire, so the breedings are probably the result of STUPIDITY.

Who buys dog that are not eligible for AKC registration out of unxrayed parents?

Uneducated people that dont care about AKC registration and just want a dog.


98% of the people that come into the petstore that i work at dont have papers for their "champion bloodline" dogs.

Honestly, there are some REALLY stupid uneducated people in this world. If there wasnt, people wouldnt be producing dogs from untitled/tested parents.

Just adopt from the pound if you want to gamble.

Sadly alot of people buy unregistered stock because they have had negative experiences purchasing pups from breeders.  ( I groom so alot of mixed breeds come through the doors)  They do not want to pay $1000 for a papered animal that comes with a contract attached to it.  OR they had a purebred that came with health issues so they do not want a "well bred or highly bred ( i think those are the most common terms people use when I ask)  dog.    ( basically if it comes from show stock they just dont want it)  They purchase purebreds just not registered ones.  They figure no papers = a healthier dog. Flawed thinking at best. However If you read this forum you would assume there isnt a healthy dog alive.  Interestingly I had only one purebred in all these years have a genetic issue. My doberman had spondylosis ,,, that said he live a full healthy life until the age of 13.  One dog out of all the dogs I have had my hands on over the years isnt bad at all.

What about buying a GSD out of unxrayed parents? I thought the entire world knew that GSD's get HD. Even non-dog people often stop me and ask if my GSD has had her "back end" xrayed since she's one of them "Police Dogs that always gets crippled rear ends".





 

Lots of non dog people and dog people stop me when I have my Czech WL dogs in town. But it is only to remark how beautiful they are and that they have never seen such a beautiful German Shepherd. Most of the time they also comment on no crippled hind legs and "slopey" backs. Can not say anyone has ever asked if I had their "rear end" exrayed.

I believe this particular litter of non-xrayed or otherwise health tested, underage and now the new fact - both parents not titled, not x-rayed, not health tested, and not registered AKC - is advertised for $1500.  Probably with full registration too, so the lucky new owners can also breed their dog just because they feel like it, like the "breeder" does the parents.  Shameful.
