Hi, there is a new seeing eye dog organization starting up in CT. They have trainers, volunteers, basically everything in place now but are in need of quality bred German Shepherds to train as guide dogs.
Guide Dogs need to have solid nerve base, stable temperament, aloof to social ability in public, have willingness to work & please. They need the drives to be train & work all day, but need to turn off & relax when required.
Many of their clients need their guide dogs to ride on all sorts of public transportation like; subways, trains, buses, planes, etc. Dogs will accompany them to jobs, school, hikes, in cities, etc.
Ideally the dogs will be between 10 months old to 2 years old. Their budgets are very limited so full donations are ideal for a worthy cause.

Anyone interested please send me a brief message on your dog. I'll forward you their info If they are interested in your dog. You can help this new organization get off the ground & greatly enhance some ones life.
PM me if you'll like to help.

They are already in contact with GSD rescue & have adopted a couple of dogs from shelters I was told. But many of the dogs from those resources aren't passing the temperament they are seeking.

Hi JodyP, yes the school base is in Seattle WA & training director is located here in New England. Soon the training will be done nationally at the location with the new family / person for the seeing eye dog.

Many of the founders of this new organization were part of Fidelco for over 30-40 years. Fidelco bred, trained, & placed only German Shepherds as seeing eye dogs. They believe GSD's make the best seeing eye dogs.
Fidelco founder passed away & was replaced with someone with a new vision. They brought in new CEO's from former top companies & public officials. Fidelco is now run more like a corporation than a volunteer non for profit seeing eye organization. The long term dedicated people that were part of Fidelco lost faith with the change in events & group together.
Together they started a new organization called, Toby Willis and Independence Guide Dogs. They have everything in place even a long waiting list of people a waiting their trained seeing eye dogs.
Now they just need to start from scratch getting well bred GSD's. They prefer working line GSD's with the type of temperament & drives listed above.

Jody if the same breeder they mention to me, then we both have donated to this organization. I look forward to meeting you at their fund raiser at the end of the month in CT.
