Bigbrother, Just as a clarification, neither the AD or the BH is a title. They are precursors, one to a breed survey (after the dog has fulfilled many other requirements) and the BH is the basic obedience and temperament test required before a dog can trial for a Schutzhund title. If you have specific questions, post them here or email me and I will be happy to help you understand the requirements. If you have never worked in Schutzhund sport before, it certainly is to your advantage to find someone or a club who can help you. Doing the work for the BH alone can be very difficult if you do not understand the tasks that the dog will be expected to perform and you never have a chance to work on the behavioral aspects of the temperament test.

Also look at the rules on the DVG America Web site. http://www.dvgamerica.com/ There are minor differences between some of the different organizations so familierize yourself with the specific one you will trial under.

No other requirements have to be fulfilled before taking the AD. Although it is required before a Korung(breed exam) it can be taken at any time, for instance after the BH and before the SchH1 exam if you have an opportunity to do so. Stephen

The dog must be old enough to do an AD and there is also an age requirement for the BH. I believe the age is 15 months for the BH, and 16 months for the AD.

Per SV, BH-12 months old and AD-16 Months Old

USA requirements are 15 months old for the BH and I believe the 12 month age you refer to is not valid either in Germany anymore.

According to the DVG America rules, the dog must be 15 months for the BH.
