Please evaluate these hips for me.  Is there something wrong with the left socket?

Jenn, Hexe and others might give a much better oplinion but I can't tell if it is the positioning or if the socket is slightly shallow.  Looks quite tight.  Just wondering, and might help others, why an x-Ray so young?  Is the dog having symptoms?

Hard to be sure--the xray is crooked and the legs aren't positioned quite right. Also, you can see the joints haven't ossified completely nor have the growth plates closed. I don't see any dire problems (that is, I've seen far worse at this age), but the joints may be less than ideal--when you have a dog that is not clearly good or clearly bad, it becomes all the more important to have straight x-rays on a dog that isn't still growing.

He had been limping on his right front so we took him to the vet for that and just decided to take a peek at his hips also.  Thats why he is so young.  Vet said the hips were bad, but I dont see what is so bad.  Im just wondering if anyone can see what the problem would be.
Thanks Jan ;-)

Not seeing bad hips.

Hips look OK, right much better than left hip (right side of our screen;0  however, do not like the long bones on t his dog, they are not straight as well as the positioning of the x-ray is very poor.  Looks like for 8 months old there has been some remodeling on the left hip but it is really hard to tell, femur head looks a bit rough without and really smooth fit.  But the long bones are somewhat deformed looking like rickets or something??  Not really sure about this but for 8 months old I would hope all of this to be a better fit as far as the hips and have the long bones below the knees be straighter.  Not sure though lets see what other say.  Best of luck to you with him.  NAN

At this point I would say maytbe fair.

IMO, these hips look normal for breed and age. The right looks deeper because the pelvis isn't symetrical and the knees aren't rotated inwardly.  The long bones appear to be bent due to the positioning.  I think I would be looking for another vet to do the next hip xray.

Vets always say they are bad, so you can hand the credit card and they can fix them. What would we do without vets?? Please, let us know this vet's name and address, to help others avoid him.

positioning is horrible, but the hips look good.
