Better "how", would be my question.  You could always ask the breeder what he thinks.  I would venture to guess he favored Max II, the "hardest dog" he owned.

There was clearly sufficient drive, hardness, clarity of head, confidence, social aggression, and full genetic grips in Max II.  But Max I. was linebred 2-4 each on two of the great founding producers for his breeding program, Greif and Esthera, which set the bar of standards for all he wished to retain through each generation.

Max I.'s trial scores were consistently 10 points higher on average than Max II's.  But the training dedication, handler skills, and training support can account for that level of difference.  I think each of them have failed to significantly impact the breed with what they have produced, primarily because there are few high level competitors that are competing with Tiekerhook dogs.

From Max II, we have Dusty van Tiekerhook, whose handler is not interested in breeding.  And there is Hero van Tiekerhook (outstanding performer in mondio ringsport, Portugal & world event), who at age 4 has not yet sired a litter that I know of.  Appears the best hope of carrying the Tiekerhook lines rests on the shoulders of Catch van Tiekerhook, full sister to Hero and my own dog, Hutch.

Really?  I was unaware there were browser issues with the database.  This is the current pic I'm using on the database, hosted from my personal website and size shrunk.

Max II had frozen semen available here in the states correct? (it says so on the Tiekerhook webpage unless that has changed) Why aren't more people using it? Cost? Not available?

The sunset's rays DO affect that picture above some.  This pic of Hutch below is more accurate of his typical color (changes seasonally) without too much high noon glare, snow glare, or overly dark shadows.  Of course, when he's less wet from creek dippin', his back appears as if more black not having the sable tips grouping together.  But this one reveals the pigment all the way around pretty accurately.

This picture below is of Max van Tiekerhook II.  Both Hutch and Max carry a recessive black gene.

I would imagine the price is fair on the frozen semen, but the biggest deterrent is probably the high risk of a failed AI.  And pink papers would not be possible because of NHSB regulations (I think), as no European breed registries I'm aware of will recognize litters born from AI.

I love Max II & his offspring, but Max I is also a very nice dog. It's a shame there aren't more offspring around for both Max II & I.
We are excited to be getting an daughter out of Pike x Opal +Max sister breeding with in the next 4-6 months.

Hutch looks like a nice powerful dog with great expression. How do you like how he works? Has he sired any offspring yet?

Pic of our Max II grand daughter, Cleo. She is being trained for SCH titles this fall / early winter. Awesome working dog.
