as a person who owns a kennel(inactive) i know very well what my actions may bring upon me.
what about the buyers who lead you down the straight and narrow only to dump you once the work is done.
should their names be posted on a world wide forum as their actions are also very much a part of this sell-buy thing.
they take up hours of your time, and money and ...poof they are gone.
it is not always the seller that is an a-hole but we get slammed if we miss anything.
i am not defending anyone but, hell, fair is fair.

Buyers should be held just as accountable as breeders!

Isn't that what deposits are for?

Or am I misunderstanding what your saying?

After the sale:

Buyer has just as much responsibility to uphold their end of the contract as the seller does theirs. And
if you don't agree with or understand the contract, then don't sign it and don't buy the dog. SIMPLE!
OR ask that the contract be renegotiated, to include or eliminate parts... what is the worst that can happen?
The breeder says no and you buy from someone else.

Well, as a buyer I take responsibility for my choices, I have never imported a pup and probably won't, so there's probably a difference. Once I bring my puppy home, they are there for their lifetime and the only other contact I've had with a breeder is updates and pictures. If I promise to do something, I do it. If there are serial nut jobs that bounce from breeder to breeder causing trouble or trying to scam, I don't see why they should not be exposed.

Wade, that's just how people are these days. Everyone is out for themselves, common courtesy is quite uncommon, and "buyers" think NOTHING of asking your advice, input, opinions, information, etc. for sometimes a couple YEARS before they're really ready, and if you're lucky, they'll thank you for it. Often, they won't. If you don't want to spend countless wasted hours on flaky people, then it's best you don't deal with the public. We have a huge problem with a sense of entitlement in this society, imo. Sellers/breeders are the enemy, and it's a buyer's right to take full advantage. Personally, I don't mind talking to people who have no intention of buying a dog, but I don't blame people who get angry about it, either. Then again, I don't know diddly....

From a strictly business perspective, if someone is going to offer a product to the public, then they are going to have to deal with the public. This is going to include a lot of "tire kickers", novice and inexperienced buyers and some who are not serious at all. I don't see any way around this.

There are people who may have the best intentions to pursue a goal with a dog, but when faced with the reality of the time and finances involved realize it's just not possible. If a breeder sells a dog to someone who does not follow through on promises and has no track record of having done anything previous, then it is on the breeder. after all, no one is forced to swap a pup for a check.

reimone, i have done buisness with this guy befor. as a matter of fact he has purchased 1 dog and 2 pups in the past. i thought when he called and asked for this bitch, i did't need a deposit as i trusted him'
it is sad but today it seems no one'e word is a bond.
i think at 62 years old i would have learned. i still like to think there is honest people on this planet ,though..
i have held this bitch for almost 4 months and today was delivery time and this sucker, steve linkowski, never even had the decency to call me and let me know he was not going to meet me as skeduked. i had confirmed 2 weeks ago with him this date. don harris is well aware of this deal as he wanted the bitch then too.
that is the reason for this post, to bring awarness that buyers that do this should and will be named on a world wide forum. this may save someone elst the time and money from dealing with such people.
rik, a phone call is not much to ask for. it seems you are one of those people that regardless of what happens, blame the breeder or seller.

Wade, you just can't seem to keep away from bizarre inferences based on your own misunderstanding, can you?

sable, I replied to a post in general terms that you posted in general terms. looking back over it, I see nothing that would have indicated that you were speaking of a specific incident or person.

If things happened as you say, then yes, I would think you have been defrauded, mislead, lied to, whatever. I don't blame you for feeling put upon.

I do think you would have gotten a different response if you had described the incident in the beginning. and never forget, "things are not always as they seem"

best,

Rik
