I posted in June about a friend who had a dog imported from Hungary and then sent in his original paperwork to the AKC and never received AKC registration. When he called them he was told they never received it. Right now all he has left of the original paperwork is his pedigree. He's contacted the lady who imported his dog and she has contacted some friends of hers in Hungary but as far as my friend knows nothing has been done to get him new papers issued. My friend has even e-mailed the breeder of his dog in Hungary hoping that he could help him but never did get a response. He has a very nice dog and he would like to breed him. I know that his dog is registered with the MNJK and that his breeders name is Laszlo Kranyik from in Regnum-Marianum kennel. Is there anything that he can do to try and get new paperwork? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Mysti

your friend needs to contact the breed club or the national kennel club and ask about what is needed to get duplicate registration papers. The breeder cannot help. Only the entity that issued the papers to begin with can. Have the friends in Hungary provide contact info for kennel club or breed club. Maybe someone can also translate.

Please try this e-mail address for Ferenc Szegvári: mnjk@nemetjuhasz.hu
He speaks both English and German and has helped me with a different issue for a Hungarian dog.

Did AKC cash the payment for the dog?
I submitted copies on 2 dogs at the same time, same envelope, same check. 2+ months later, still no registrations. I had to keep hounding them. Told them if you got my money you got both dogs information. Had one pending later found out, the other they had to look for, but the did eventually find them. Just took alot of time. You can't open an envelope process one of the dogs and tell me you don't have the 2nd one! Call AKC back and get a supervisor. Be sure to keep their name and ask for a direct number. This was a couple years ago, but still took almost 4 months to get accomplished.

Vomlandholz, I, or I should say a client who purchased two (2) females from me faced the exact same issue from doing exactly the same thing.
In the end, even after I confirmed the registration number of the "missing" bitch the A.K.C. still issued a new registration number for the bitch. Duh?! is sadly the only word that I can say about the A.K.C.'s handling of this matter.

Bob-O so now the dog has 2 numbers??? That's akc for you. They can yell at me until they're blue in the face, they will not get my originals. Probably why I don't breed any female now until I get that registration back from them. Too many problems can arise, next thing you know, pups are 6 months old and still no papers. No thanks.

Never send originals to the AKC, only copies. If someone tells you to send originals, call back and talk to a supervisor.
Whenever you send originals anywhere, keep a copy for your own files. Only send originals registered mail or in a way that provides a tracking number so that you can prove the letter has arrived.

Angela, yes, theoretically the bitch has two (2) registration numbers. I have the second one recorded as a note in the file for the litter of that the bitch is from-just in case the A.K.C. ever fumbles a litter registration for that bitch.
Yes, they cashed my client's cheque and took her money for two (2) registrations and furnished her with only one (1) for one (1) of the bitches. The client placed the envelope containing what she thought was the registration for two (2) bitches in her files, and proceeded to breed the females after they were two (2) years old.
The big mess happened when she tried to register the litter and found out that she only had the registration for one (1) bitch.
Everything was finally settled and the bitch and her litter received registration numbers. I don't think that the A.K.C. charged her for losing (A.K.C.'s fault) the application and issuing a new registration, but it did take four (4) weeks to recieve the document.
Still, sadly, all that I can say is "Duh?!" concerning this and similar actions by the A.K.C.'s misplacing of critical paperwork.
