I took this picture today while he was eating. He is one year old per the vet. His name is Max. My breed of choice is Still and always will GSD.

Ooh, he is pretty! Looks just like the husky we used to have - Thunder. I have always liked huskies. Have fun!

Can you offer any advice or thoughts ? This is the first husky I have ever had...

Exercise, exercise, exercise... and training. They WILL find things to do if you don't give them something, and it generally isn't good! LOL.
Talk to GSDGuy08 - he has 4 huskies. I believe he even has a Max too.

From what I've heard, it's basically impossible to train them to have a solid recall. Of course, there are exceptions to the rule. Stubborn breed, that's for sure.... Definitely have a mind of their own, and they're very self-pleasing dogs.
I think they're absolutely gorgeous, but I would never own one.

Konotashi, that's the absolute farthest thing from the truth I have ever heard. People who can't train a Husky to have a solid recall lack a lot of knowledge with Huskies.....That's all it comes down to. Three out of my four will come when I tell them to, regardless of what's going on or where we're at. The fourth is getting there, but he's still very, very young. The youngest one knows sit, down, stay, come, and I'm working on focused heeling with him. We were even doing sit stays and down stays in the middle of Lowes yesterday, and just doing a lot of different training exercises there. Someone even offered me good money for that dog while I was there. (I said no) The stubborness is because they do something if they actually see a point or good reason to do it.
K9261 if you have any questions feel free to shoot me a PM.

Congrats on your new boy! I've heard that they're stubborn, but then again, so is our Vizsla. However, my best friend had one for 12 years and he was an awesome dog. Enjoy "talking" with them, that's probably my favorite thing about them :)

Yes!! Now that you say that Macrowe I remember a friend of mine had two of them and they use to "sing" with them all the time. This like howl/talking/singing noise. It was a lot of fun to talk with them like that.
