I feed them Lactol for three days after they had first milk from mother, because dog mother sick and taking amoxicillin cannot nursing them.I will get fresh goat milk tomorrow ,is it better than Lactol,my concern is fresh goat milk not safe?

it is perfect for pups, this is what i use, but starting at 3 wks old and mixing with solid food
i would ask vet but not regular vet but specialist in pediatrics
i am sure you can just make a phone call for free with a question like that, no need actually go for appointment

I don't know that I would stress your pups with another change, seeing what they've survived already.....if they're doing well on the lactol I wouldn't rock the boat. You're still planning on returning them to the bitch soon? As long as you're not going to have to bottle feed them long term, stick with the lactol. If, however, the bitch can not produce enough milk after what she's been through, then perhaps consider fresh goats milk. Make sure the source is clean, not dirty or having lain in manure, etc., & that the milk is handled aseptically, that the goats are healthy....try a wee bit & see how it's tolerated. Best of luck to you, you & your mom dog have had a very hard time, & you seem to have pulled the whole lot of them through it. Kudos to you! jackie harris

They are three days old not three weeks......

Stick with what you have until you start to feed them at 4 weeks or 3 weeks

Then fresh goats milk  with a tiny bit of purified drinking water....no tap water with chlorine in it.....

added to the goats milk..

The mom should be able to feed her pups by now...amox will not hurt as her infection ought to be about in arrest and the dosage of amox may be almost over...10 days of amox is a big amount but maybe the dosage can come down...how is mom doing today???

Keep feeding the pups as you have...do not rock boat is correct..feed mom some PUPPY CANNED dog food....my vet insists on it...it has Choline in it and extra nutrients..and also raw liver and yogurt and sprinkle dry milk over her food for extra calcium

I also fix Malt of meal and mix in food....small amounts of everything at first added to her food she eats...she may need pedialite also for drinking if she will take it..

I keep all this handy in case of problems...hope your female is a high food drive girl..it sure helps when problems arrise...

Let us know how they are doing...

Switch to goats milk when pups eat...but not right now...GOATS milk has more nutrients in it than you can even talk about..one of the best you can give.. Just make sure it is warmed appropriately as on the post of Cavalierk9 , suggests...

Good luck

I drink raw goats milk with my coffee, and feed it to my dogs,
I have lowered my cholesterol and the dogs coats have a shine to them!
