3Shep2

by 3Shep2 on 07 January 2012 - 01:01

This evening my American bred companion of the last 12.5 years was put to sleep.  A better companion could not be asked for-we did alot together-he was bold, intelligent and had a great sense of humor.  Unfortunately during his lifespan he ruptured at least two disc in his spine-the pain became extreme last January-modern medicine allowed us one more year-today his left hind leg kept going out on him-causing him to either collapse or attempt to drag his hind end-Happy, alert and in no pain it was a difficult decision to let him depart with his diginty intact-my heart and house have a void-the other dogs are extremely quiet this evening.

Nice picture of your boy and your heart will be warmed as you remember all the years you gave him reign in your space.

So very sorry for your loss!  Most of us on here have been exactly where you are right now and know exactly how it hurts. Time will heal your hurting heart, I know, been there/done that!  He had a beautiful face! RIP friend

Very handsome he was, every GSD needs and wants his dignity.
I had to do the same for my big handsome white GSD Kane, it was sad to see him suffer,
he was the same age.
Sorry you lost a piece of your heart.....wish they could live as long as the smaller breeds.

   What was his name?

Mirasmom-

Kiplan (call name Kip/Kipper) CGC, ATTS,TT

Extensive obedience, loved agitlity, hiking and was training in tracking/trailing for MOSAR1 when he torsion at 4yr of age-his back issue was discovered when reentered training after surgery recovery and was retired.  I swear he understood the English language and he certainly was a mind reader.

Thanks everyone for the condolences-its hit me really hard this morning.
