Hi, new here - Page 1

Hello everyone!

Owned several GSD in my life and this is my latest one, just picked him up today.

Haven't decided on a Register name yet, but call name is Shadow.

This is the pedigree the parents come up with, look OK?

Shadow is very cute, love the evil look in his eyes, I bet he is a real demon. Congratulaions. And welcome.

I'm having trouble selecting his Registration name as it seems both breeders strayed from the norm(?) in naming convention.


So something in German like "Schatten ______"

When I went to look at Shadow for the first time at 6 1/2 weeks, he was the only one out of a littler of 8 with ears halfway up. All the others were still down and hanging.

When I went back to pick him up @ 8 weeks he was still the only one in the litter with ears up. My last GSD, (R.I.P Duke), didn't ear up til almost 7 or 8 months!

We've been working on name, focus and come, he's very bright and catches on quickly!

Shadow is my 4th GSD (I am 50). My other 3 were strictly family pets and just learned the basic OB training to be "somewhat", LOL, "house dogs".

For Shadow, I've been in touch with the local Schutzhund club and may start him in on that at 16 weeks. They won't let me come until he has his rabies vaccine so I will work with him on the basics until then.

BTW all, I am still stressing over his pegigree name :) Could use some ideas based on his pedigree. :)

There are a lot of more "hard core" than me GSD owners here and I'd hate to name the dog wrong and be shunned forever. :) HE NAMED HIS DOG WRONG..SHUN HIM...SHUN HIM!!! :)

I'd like to incorporate some of his breeding in the name, but I'm not sure if that is appropriate.

Like maybe, "Shadow, Grandson of Vegas". in German "Schatten, Enkel von Vegas".
