Can I handle the pups too much at this point? They are 3 weeks old and my daughter and I spend a fair amount of time with them. Like now, they are asleep in a basket at my feet. They had their supplemental meal about an hour ago. They seem fine and Mom seems okay also. Just wanted some opinions.

No,IMO .Socialize them ,play with them, get them used to surfaces and noises..like vacuum, things like that. Love them { I know you do } Working dogs.com {Volhard} has valuable info as far as developmental things you can do with the pups. You as the breeder are the only one who has the opportunity to work with the pups in ways a future owner never can. You can use some of your time together to help them in their future and it can be part of the handling if you desire. So,to answer your question,I don't think you can handle them too much, As long as they eat well, sleep well, you are ok All my best

Hey ColeHaus, dont worry to much about them, they have lived 3 weeks, most likely they will be ok. matter of fact i would not pemper them to much. Just watch for drafts and humans with a cold or anything simular to it. At that age i start to whene them of their mum. If you have a bitch that is used to have pups, she will start it anyways. Anyways, as long as you do feel ok with what you are doing and the pups strive, you are just doing fine. Regards Ulli Dresbach

Y'all are so kind. I am really feeling like I'm coming into my own with this litter. It began as a harrowing experience, but I have so much peace about the way everything is progressing. Its nice to have peace about things once again.

I'm with gsdlvr2. - put your hands all over those babies! Throw everything at them you can think off. When they're a little older, start taking them for rides in the car/truck. You will be helping them to cope with all different things and will be giving your puppy customers good stable dogs! You come so far with these guys!! It's a credit to you!

y'all are so kind;) Syd isn't even bothered with me handling the pups and taking them out of the whelping box. Our weather has been beautiful and we go sit in the grass a few times a day. Syd chews her bones and the pups walk around and explore. She doesn't let them get far. They really don't seem rattled by much. Very inquisitive pups.

You know, it's so wonderful to hear about these babies, especially in light of what you've gone thru -it really is wonderful...I'm sure these are going to be great dogs!
