Hi, im just posting this message to get your opinions on how my dog is looking for 10 months old. He's trained in German,English,French. He completed his Obedience base 1-3. Next year I either plan to train him for personal protection or schuntzhund for fun. Second question, at 10 months is it ok to start to run him abit next to the bike? Or should i wait till a year and half...

Wow, my Ryder is 10 months also and your dog looks a lot like him.  He is really good looking.  I don't really have much experience with what you are asking as I have never rode a bike with a dog running next to me.  Ryder would probably take me into another State.

My pup is ten months. We were told not to run her next to a bike until at least  1 1/2 to 2 when their bones are not growing and the hard knocking and jarring of the ground won't hurt their bone growth or joints. However, though we were told this, we still go out behind our house and ride along the paths and let her run behind us at her own pace so she can sniff and rest and isn't being forced to go when it hurts.

Some people will tell you to flat out NOT excersice your dog, but I figure if they don't have a little bit of excersice now, then they won't have any stamina when they get older. Just my opinion on that one ;).

Of course I would exercise your dog, BUT I would find a dirt path, maybe like a track at a school and jog him around a couple of times on leash;  you do not want to pound those joints on pavement riding a bike, swimming good, sandy beaches good.  Stay off the asphalt and other hard services if y ou can.  Throw his ball on grassy area and let h im run and get it at his own pace.  Good luck, he is beautiful by the way.  Looks real good for 10 months.  Nan

Thank you all for your comments, I always run him on the grass with a ball or let him play with my other dog. As for the bike riding, its pretty cold now , so ill wait till next spring by then he should be fine to take a run with me.

Thank you Chris
