I,m going to put my pup Cruise in the 9 to 12 month old puppy class at our upcoming Show in November. This may be a real over simplification but other then gaiting and stacking what else will he need to know how to do?.

It's a male pup right? I dont think they will check teeth and testicles in the puppy classes at a local show, but they might. And they certainly will check microchip or tattoo. He needs to be used to having a stranger hover over him for these processes, and it would be a good idea to get him used to having his teeth shown and a stranger touch his testicles in case they do this in your class. At the NASS this weekend, it was obvious that virtually none of the young pups were used to having thier teeth checked. Some of them literally freaked out at having a stranger near their mouth. That must have been a long and painful process for those poor ring stewards haha. Also if you are having a stranger handle your pup, make sure he's used to be touched all over by strangers for the purposes of stacking too. That should be it ,good luck!

I teach all my dogs a command while opening there mouth,s It,s "Teeth" and it work,s pretty good. I do have him handled alot by strangers when we go to tractor supply or the park or when ever someone say,s can I pet your pup so he is pretty good with that. I do the testicle jingle on occassion just to make sure it does,nt freak him out but i don,t know how they would appreciate it at tractor supply" Can I pet your puppy? Sure and while your at it give his balls a shake while your at it!" Nope can,t see that going over well !!!! hahahahahaha
Side facing the judge is the rear foot side facing handler underneath how far is the support leg to be under? back of support leg verticle to the ground?.

Hope you have someone to practice gating with? There is usually quite a bit of running with YOU half a ring ahead at all times. The dog must trot and not hop, dig, jump or pace while gating. When the dog is walking, it is acceptable for them to pace, but not when the speed is picked up. Sounds like you have the rest handled. Also when he enters the 12+ month classes he must pass gunfire testing.

Gun fire isn,t a issue he has been hearing that from the start. Thanks for the heads up. I,m probably going to have someone else run him I just have to make sure the rest is there.

Yes, you have someone else run/handle him in the ring BUT YOU need to run outside the ring. You or someone whom he also loves.
The support leg should be forward to the waistline or right about where the penis is.

Bob,
The best thing you can do for your puppy is teach it what to do when it's in the ring. Take the training you know how to do and apply it to what it needs to do in the ring. Know how excited your dog is to see the helper...transition that to the ring. Create the exciement there too. He needs to hold his head up. Teach him to do that. He needs to move forward, teach him to do that. Use what you know how to do and apply it to what your dog needs to do.

Bob..
It sounds a bit ridiculous all this running around the ring lol...It looks funny too, but it does make a difference in "ring presence"...I noticed this right away attending the show. Now I know why it's done and it makes a significant difference in the ring ...: )
Also, double handling makes for great entertainment for the spectators LoL!!!....lol...
