I wonder if anyone can point me in the direction of a suitable organisation in the UK or Ireland where I can train to become a dog trainer. I am intersted in learning how to do both basic and advanced work with dogs so that I might make a part time career in the field. I am not interested in Distance Learning courses, rather a hands on approach. Many Thanks in anticipation.

Why not just read a lot on training, find a method and title some of your own dogs. Then you could use that as advertisement. Maybe take a some animal behavior classes or actually get a degree in that field.

Thanks for the response Mosemancr.I bought a couple of Leerburg DVDs recently and they have been very helpful and informative. Keen to learn more so will read and research some more. Thanks again.

I think mosemancr has the answer go and do it and prove you can then you will be a trainer you can read every book and spend all your time on the keyboard but at the end of the day its when you say here that sorts the trainers from the wannabeeeeeeeeeeeeeees

Look under handler in market place, add for tranee/handler. Place is located in Ireland. Old add but might be worth a try.
