My 6.5 months old male puppy has a height 53cm. I have been worrying when he was small puppy. Definitely he was born small. His father and mom have normal height. The point is that I wanna make sure my puppy will grow up as standart/60cm-65cm/. He is growing up day by day, just smaller than others. Dear owner, have you had a puppy like mine, and could grow up as standart?
Thanks all.

Hi,

Don't worry about his growth just yet. Make sure you are feeding him the right amount of the best foods you can get for him as a large breed puppy and just enjoy him whilst he's still growing.

Most GSDs grow until they're about 2-2 1/2 yrs old and then they fill out a little. So at 6 months old he has a long time to grow to full size.

my sable bitch was always small. I used to think she was the runt fo the litter because my 2 boys grew very quickly. Now at 21 months old, she is almost full sized and just ont eh bottom end of the breed standard. I know that once she has stopped growing, maybe in a few months, maybe a while longer, she's be the proper size.

I did keep back a runt just cause I liked her. She was almost half the size of the other puppies. At 3 1/2 she is now " normal" sized and probably weighs about 70#s. So just hang in there. Like Stumpy said he is only 6 months old and has lots of time and growing to do. BTW beautiful pupper. Enjoy him.

I wouldn't worry too much either. One of my dogs....though not a GSD, grew in height until he was slightly over a 14 or 15 months. It was just a gradual growing, and then he filled out after that.  He's now about 50 lbs, and 22 inches (males in his breed should range from about 21 inches- 23 and 1/2 and 45-60 lbs which puts him right in the middle) at the shoulders.  He is a Husky though, but your pup is young and I wouldn't worry about it that much.

Thank you guys, I shouldn't worry too much. I feed him by cooking, yes he is still growing up slightly. I see just it needs time.
