i would go with your breeders suggestions... if you got the puppy from a breeder that is.

Ah, come on, someone help this girl. She's trying to raise her puppy the right way and is asking for our help. Giggles, if no one gives you an answer or if your breeder can't help, email me at blitzengsd@adelphia.net and I'll get you some answers from someone who knows all about nutrition for a puppy. I don't know the best food or vitamins as I haven't had a puppy for almost 5 years and I never gave him vitamins. Things like this change all the time. I feed Royal Canin GSD food and Blitz does well on it. I think they make a puppy food too.

Hi Giggles We have been breeding since 1998 and have found the best results with either Hokamix or Herbal Matrix, Vertex and Olewo. The Hokamix and Olewo are from Germany and the Vertex is produced here in the USA. All of these can be found at either www.holisticvitamins.com or www.naturmix.com I hope this helps. Prior to using these we were provided with very nice testimonial letters from a lot of people that had used them.

Sharon, I too will be checking out the info you gave, That was very nice of you to take the time to give all of that :-) only thing I would add is consult Breeder, Veterinarian, Dietician. and say Good Luck and Good Job for seeking information on how to correctly feed your new baby ! What a lucky dog to have someone who cares enough to do so !

Giggles, I really like Juice Plus for dogs, It has brewers yeast, beet root fiber, flax seed, acidolphilus, garllic, protease, alfalfa juice conc, amlase, barley juice, safflower petals wheat grass juice, lipase, glucoamylase, lactobacillus plantarum and cellulase. You can read more about it on my web site www.shepherdbreed.com under nutrition. It is also made for humans...A diffrent blend of course! I have been on Juice Plus capsules for 3 years and will never take vitamins again...This is whole food of 17 diffrent types of fruit and vegtables in the convience of capsules. Hey if a dog needs supliments you know we do to! Hope this helps.

If you feed your dogs/pups the BARF way, you don't need those extra vitamins. I've raised a litter this way last year and compared it with a litter i've raised on dry dog food the year previous last-NO COMPARISON, as in they (barf pups) had bigger bones no allergies, skin problems, shinny coats... etc!

i give Glucosime/chondrotin ,antioxidents, vit c,multi vitamin, omega 3-6-9, olive oil and feed raw chicken, and beef rib bones about 3 times a week the other days i feed innova adult. my 6 yr old was brought up on this and has good hips and has never been to the vet after his puppy shots. only for Rabies(mandatory) and my new pup is being brought up the same way she will be 11 mths., never had any health problems, so far, with her either.. good luck with your new pup

Well let me give my input.I feed only K-9 Raw Meat/Chicken-Beef-Vegetables and to it I give Hokamix,Vertex,Olewo,1-Garlic Pill to keep the fleece&Ticks away plus Red Salmon 1 can a Week but you can also give them the Salmon Pill.I also give them Turkey-necks to enjoy and don't forget Peanutbutter for treats.Yogurt is also one of there favort.Mother Hubbard small Peanutbutter biscuits are also good for treats because they are all naturell. It is good for me and my GSD because the puppies are being feed that before they leave so most of my clients keep it up.But if there are some there would like to give them diffent food I tell them how to go about it.We have never had any problems skin coat allergies or anatomical they are healty and striving. In fact my Vet imported the Olewo Carrots&Hokamix. Take what you can from this great group Giggles greetings to all.Charlotte
