Hi. I have noticed that in dark sables, a lot of dogs have light coloring around their eyes, almost like an eye patch... Why is this? Do some dark sables not have this eye coloring? And do you find it attractive on a GSD?

Not all dark sables have it, as you see in my avatar Aeisha does not have it, I do like it though, I think it is very striking.

Awww Rookie is a HUNK...............I think some people call that marking racoon eyes and yes I love it. Both my boy and his granddaughter have it.

It is normal, my dog has them and I could care less if a dog possesses such color around eyes.

I love the way they look, people over here call them wolf eyes and some swear the dog who has them is full of courage

Yes I've heard them referred to as racoon eyes, and I LOVE it, makes them very striking. JMO

I love it also, I think it makes them look distinguished.

hahaha I'm with you, Pack! Mine has it too, it's common and completely normal. Almost all sables have a little bit lighter color hair around the eyes some more than others.
