I was looking for another thread on this but didn't see any but if there is, please post the link.

I have had a convo with a good friend about this and wanted some more opinions.
Do you feel that linebreeding after the 3rd generation has a huge impact on the dog?

Many say the 1st (3) generatiosn play a siginificant part but what about the 4th & 5th generations and line breeding?

it depends if the dog that it was linebred on carried some autsomal recessive disease then yes there would be signifingence because you would be increasing the odds by virtue of the fact there would be lots of potential carriers ,if it carried some autosomal dominant that could be even worse! its really more complex than that a good case study in this type thing is Field Trial Labradors since there have been virtually no outcrosses since the 60s and the linebreeding is hot and heavy and many many carriers of CNM and EIC

You need to talk to Don Turnipseed on WDF. He is on his 11th generation of close close linebreeding. I don't know of anyone else that has done this that is still doing it.
